The finder does not guess at taste. It filters the catalogue against the measurements we publish — opacity, lining, fabric weight, and behaviour in moving air — and tells you which measurement decided each result.

What is the occasion?
Occasion narrows the catalogue by what the event actually asks of a dress — how long you will be sitting, how much daylight is involved, and how formal the room is.
The rules that run before anything is ranked
These are hard filters in the code, not preferences. They remove pieces from the pool rather than moving them down the list, which means no combination of your other answers can bring them back.
Mostly outdoors removes sheer and unlined pieces entirely
Not ranked lower — removed from the pool before anything is scored. A sheer, unlined piece in open daylight is the single most common way a dress goes wrong at an outdoor event, and no score should be able to override that.
33°C and above returns only cloth under 185 g/m² that can be machine washed
Above that weight a warm-season dress stops being a warm-season dress. Hand-wash-only pieces are also removed at this temperature, because they are usually the ones you least want to be wearing on the hottest day.
Mostly outdoors also returns dresses only
Layers and accessories are suggested separately underneath the results, never as an answer to the question you asked.
Every result page carries the invitation notice
The occasion labels are our reading of a garment, not a ruling on your event. The host decides the dress code and the invitation is the only authority on it.
Nothing is ever described as right for every occasion
That phrase, and a list of others like it, is blocked in the code that generates these results and again in the build. If a phrase from that list ever reached a page, the build would fail before the page shipped.
If the finder returns nothing, that is the honest answer and we will not pad it out. Send us the details of the event and we will answer by hand, usually within one business day.
