What this fabric does

  • A cowl sits differently depending on the bust measurement. It is the part of the dress most affected by fit.
  • Bias-cut. Dry flat; hanging it wet pulls one side long.

Why it is made this way

The cowl is cut as a separate self-faced panel so it holds a fold instead of collapsing flat, and the crepe face means it does not throw the hard highlight that satin does under restaurant lighting.

The bodice is lined. The skirt is single-layer bias crepe, dense enough to read opaque on the rig.
