What this fabric does

  • Smocking is elastic, not structure. It moves with you and it does not hold a shape on its own.
  • Heat kills shirring elastic. Do not tumble dry and do not press the smocked panel.

Why it is made this way

Smocked bodices are sold on the promise that they fit whoever puts them on. That is not a claim we make. The smocked panel measures 78 cm relaxed at the base size and stretches comfortably to 96 cm; past that it stops being comfortable to sit in.

Both numbers are in the size table so you can check yours against them before ordering.
