What this fabric does

  • Heavy for a summer dress. That is the trade for a hem that stays where you put it.
  • Poplin takes a hard crease at the tier seams in a suitcase and needs pressing on arrival.

Why it is made this way

Three tiers means three rows of gathering, and gathering means fabric mass low on the dress. At 235 g/m² with a hem circumference of 340 cm, this is the piece that hangs against moving air rather than floating on it.

That is why it turns up in outdoor ceremony recommendations. It is heavier to wear. On a still 33°C afternoon you will notice the weight.

    Bought this specifically because of the heavy rating in moving air, for a ceremony on a bluff. It was genuinely windy and the hem stayed down. It is heavy though — by the end of the afternoon in 31°C I was aware of it. Worth it for the trade I wanted.
